Lemanak River Safari (Batang-Ai)
Day 1 - Meet and proceed for Lemanak River Safari. A 225 km car/coach journey takes you through lush green countryside dotted with padi fields, pepper gardens and rubber plantations, and flanked by rugged jungle-clad mountains. Along the way, stop off at the Serian farmer’s market, visit a pepper garden and view carnivorous pitcher plants. Stop for lunch at a roadside bazaar deep in Iban country. Arrive at Lemanak jetty mid-afternoon for a longboat ride up the Lemanak River, passing through typical Borneo countryside with a longhouse tucked behind almost every bend in the river. Arrive at Nanga Kesit longhousee and visit the “entire village under one roof.”
Day 2 - After breakfast, enjoy a blowpipe demonstration and try shooting one yourself. Then take a short walk through the forest accompanied by Iban trackers, and learn about the traditional uses of rainforest plants in Iban culture. Depart for Kuching via the same route. Lunch is served en-route. (B/L)
Note : Due to the nature of our environment, we recommend guests to bring along a light raincoat, insect repellent, strong sneakers, slippers for overnight, torchlight and binoculars - all items available locally. For photography, bring flash, telescopic lens & fast film for evenings in the outdoors. For your stay in the longhouse please bring along insect repellent, comfortable walking shoes, slippers, raincoat, swim wear, personal toiletries, and sufficient clothing for the length of stay.
